Nihal Suneel Navale

About Me

My name is Nihal Suneel Navale. I am a graduate student at Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) and I'll be graduating in May 2023. I am looking for a full-time role as a Robotics Engineer with a focus on perception and motion-planning. I cannot say with 100% confidence where I see myself in five years or what my big career goal is. The world is changing rapidly, and I don’t have enough professional experience to be certain about such things. However, I know that I can provide a fresh take and an extraordinary approach to every project. I am always open to challenges and constructive feedback. I am open-minded and learn new things quickly. I am a team player and dedicate all my skills and talents to develop high-quality and unique products.

Why Robotics ?

From the very beginning of my education, I had immense interest in space exploration and the questions “Are we alone?”, “Why are we, the way we are?” These types of questions helped shape my understanding of the world around me and after the moon missions, I thought what if we could send robots in the form of humans, a robot which has the same capabilities of humans or maybe better which could communicate with each other and conduct experiments in harshest without risking human life. I was also immensely influenced by movies such as Interstellar, the robot TARS and CASE, and the role they played in assisting their human companion in making complex calculations and more. The movies Avatar and Star Wars, these movies showed how robots can be used in different roles from Exoskeleton based to completely autonomous humanoid-like C3PO and R2D2. These movies and achievements made by human civilization shaped my decision to take robotics as my specialization.
